National Indigenous Peoples Day

National Indigenous Peoples Day

June 21 is a time to recognize and celebrate the cultures, traditions, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across Canada.

As we mark this important day, the District of Hope acknowledges that we are located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Stó:lō People, particularly the Chawathil, Union Bar, and Yale First Nations.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is an opportunity to learn about Indigenous histories, cultures, and perspectives, and to reflect on the ongoing journey of reconciliation through understanding, respect, and meaningful relationships.

We encourage residents to take time to learn, reflect, celebrate, and participate in local events and activities that honour Indigenous peoples and their enduring contributions to our communities.

Happy National Indigenous Peoples Day. 🧡
