Routine Requests vs. FOI Request

Before submitting a formal Freedom of Information (FOI) request, we encourage you to contact the relevant District department to determine whether the information you are seeking is available through a routine request.

Many records and general inquiries can be provided directly by staff without requiring a formal FOI application. Routine requests typically include publicly available information, answers to general questions, and records that can be released without restrictions under applicable legislation.

If the requested records are not available through routine channels, or if a formal request is required under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), staff will advise you on the next steps for submitting an FOI request.
